Early career researchers meet Nobel Laureate

Hermann Staudinger Lecture and Masterclass by Nobel Laureate Prof. Thomas Südhof (Stanford University) at FRIAS

On December 19th 2018, the Nobel Laureate (Physiology or Medicine, 2013) Prof. Thomas Südhof from Stanford University visited the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies for the 26th Hermann Staudinger Lecture.

In the morning, he also gave a master class for doctoral students and postdocs of the University of Freiburg, which was co-organised by BrainLinks-BrainTools member Dr. Philipp Kellmeyer. In the master class, the participants exchanged ideas with Prof. Südhof about his scientific work, but also about career planning and other topics.

In the afternoon, Prof. Südhof gave the Hermann Staudinger Lecture, providing an in-depth overview of his fundamental and groundbreaking work on pre- and postynaptic signal transduction.
