BrainLinks-BrainTools aims to develop medical technology that directly interacts with the nervous system. In view of this aim, BrainLinks-BrainTools combines life-sciences and engineering sciences as well as their clinical applications. BrainLinks-BrainTools was established in 2012 as a cluster of excellence within the excellence inititative by the DFG (EXC 1086) and is funded as a Center since 2019 from the Federal Ministry of Economics, Science and Arts of Baden-Württemberg within the sustainability programm for projects of the excellence initiative II.
