Wall talk: Banner design on artificial intelligence and epilepsy is hoisted at the University Library Freiburg

Start date: 30/07/2019
Start time: 07:00 pm
End time: 09:00 pm
Location: Mensagarten, Rempartstr. 18 Freiburg

From 30.07. to 30.10. an art print by Marc C. Woehr decorates the facade of the University Library Freiburg. The work will be inaugurated with a lecture and discussion in the Mensagarten with a view of the building. The artist developed the picture together with AI researcher Dr. Joschka Bödecker, junior professor of neurorobotics at the University of Freiburg, and is part of the project "City Wall Research: Artificial Intelligence and Street Art" – the contribution of the University of Freiburg to the Science Year 2019 – Artificial Intelligence. The First Mayor of the City of Freiburg Ulrich von Kirchbach and the Rector of the University of Freiburg Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans-Jochen Schiewer open the evening before the picture is unveiled. Joschka Bödecker and Marc C. Woehr will then discuss with Prof. Dr. Oliver Müller, philosopher at the University of Freiburg, about AI research, machine learning, street art and their cooperation. The work is inspired by Bödecker's work on algorithms that can detect epileptic seizures in the brain and counteract them with electrical stimulation. The aim of this research is to develop new therapies for epilepsy patients in the future.
