Exhibition opening: Street art meets artificial intelligence

Start date: 14/09/2019
Start time: 06:00 pm
End time: 10:00 pm
Organizer: Nexus Experiments

What actually is artificial intelligence? Experts already disagree on this question. An exhibition on an art/science project at the University of Freiburg is now to make the topic more tangible for laypersons. Five artists from street art have exchanged ideas with researchers from computer science, robotics, ethics and medicine, and brought their impressions of artificial intelligence and robotics to facades in Freiburg's city centre. How the five works were created and which artists, researchers and research topics are behind them can be found in the exhibition, which can be seen from 14.9.2019 to 12.10.2019 in Hildastraße 5 in the rooms of the Kulturaggregats e.V.. The photo prints, interactive exhibits and videos to be discovered bring together the results of the project "City Wall Research: Artificial Intelligence and Street Art" and also make it possible to learn more about AI. At "AI cinema mondays" and workshops on robotics and stencil art, visitors can find out more about AI, discuss and become active themselves. You can get a first impression on September 14: The team from "Stadtwandforschung" will open the exhibition at 6 p.m. and the Freiburg musician Zweatlana will play at 9 p.m.

This project by Nexus Experiments - an initiative of  the cluster of excellence BrainLinks-BrainTools  - is the contribution of the University of Freiburg to the Science Year 2019 - Artificial Intelligence of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and is being developed in cooperation with the Kulturaggregat e.V., a collective of artists and people interested in art with the aim of bringing more art and culture or subculture into public space.
