"Arroganztraining für Frauen" with Dr. Peter Modler*

28 January, 2015

Today, the well-known management consultant Dr. Peter Modler from Freiburg offered a seminar called "Arroganztraining für Frauen".
For more than nine years, Peter Modler has been offering these "Arroganztrainings" for women. In the seminar in Freiburg, the female participants had the chance to simulate different conflict situations between men and women in role-plays with a male sparring partner.
The advantage of these little role plays is obvious: instead of getting nothing but theoretical advice, the female participants got the opportunity to try out how to attain more respect in their working environment with male superiors, colleagues, clients or employees.
In general, Peter Modler's concept relates to the main ideas of the popular American sociolinguist and author Deborah Tannen. In 1990, Tannen published a book called You Just Don't Understand: Women and Men in Converstaion. This book is about language and gender and it deals with the idea that men and women have different communication styles. According to Tannens idea, Peter Modler offers the "Arroganztrainings" so that women can learn how to deal with these differences.
