Freiburg research group is world champion in Automatic Machine Learning

After having been successfully completing the expert stage in February this year (see this release), BrainLinks-BrainTools principal investigator Dr. Frank Hutter and his team have recently reached the master stage of the ChaLearn AutoML challenge. This competition aims at the development of automation techniques to examine all kinds of data, which can be difficult and may take a long time.

In the final round of the challenge the Freiburg team again took first place and can now be called world champion in Automatic Machine Learning. Not only did their AutoML systems successfully compete with expert teams from all over the world, but they also outperformed all other software systems. The award ceremony takes place in the course of the ICML in New York this June, where the team will also present a paper on their "Auto-Net" algorithm. Big Congratulations!
