Robot Learning Lab shines at IROS 2024 in Abu Dhabi

The group of BrainLinks-BrainTools member Abhinav Valada excels at IROS 2024, earning multiple prestigious awards!

During the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) in Abu Dhabi that was held from 14. – 16. October 2024, the BrainLinks-BrainTools member Prof. Abhinav Valada’s team won several prestigious awards.

Notably, Prof. Valada received the IROS Toshio Fukuda Young Professional Award for contributions to the advancement of robot learning. Additionally, he and his team was honored with the IROS Best Paper Award in Cognitive Robotics, alongside being a finalist for the IROS Best Student Paper Award for their work titled “BEVCar: Camera-Radar Fusion for BEV Map and Object Segmentation,” authored by Jonas Schramm, Niclas Vödisch, Kürsat Petek, B. Ravi Kiran, Senthil Yogamani, Wolfram Burgard, and Abhinav Valada.

Furthermore, they were algo awarded the Outstanding Workshop Presentation Award at the IROS Workshop on Long-Term Perception for Autonomy in Dynamic Human-shared Environments. This accolade was awarded for the innovative research presented by Julia Hindel, Daniele Cattaneo, and Abhinav Valada on “Taxonomy-Aware Continual Semantic Segmentation in Hyperbolic Spaces for Open-World Perception.”
