How experience changes synapses in the mammalian brain
Prof. Bonhoeffer is Director of the MPI in Martinsried and one of Germany's most esteemed Neuroscientists. It is therefore great to have him in Freiburg. His scientific focus is brain plasticity as the basis of learning and memory. More precisely, he is interested in the basic plastic changes of synapses, neurons and neuronal networks underlying the learning processes. In the visual cortex he could show that neurons in this brain area undergo enormous structural changes during learning allowing the representation of ‘visual maps’ of our environment. It would be great if you could find the time to participate at his talk and to have a common discussion on his obtained data.
