Platinum-nanograss – powerful twist on traditional material (August 24, 2015)

Morphology of the nanostructured platinum coating visualized by SEM. The inset shows the impedance spectrum of a sputtered Pt and a Pt-nanograss coated electrode of 35µm diameter

New publication: Nanostructured platinum grass enables superior impedance reduction for neural microelectrodes

The coating provides an impedance that is considerably lower than for other known materials such as IrOx or PEDOT. Given the simplicity and efficiency of the coating method, and the outstanding electrochemical surface enlargement provided thereby, we believe Pt-nanograss comprises a valuable contribution to the community of neural interfaces.
