Peer Group Counseling

Peer Group Counseling with Maja Schellhorn

21. September 2017, 15:30 - 20:00

Some of the mentees started meeting regularly as a 'Stammtisch' to train the methods they learned in former kite-events, to exchange and to seek advice. To support them, the kite-mentoring program organized the event titled "Peer Group Counseling".

In this workshop, Maja Schellhorn (known from previous kite-events) is going to teach the mentees a technique through which the participants can coach each other.

The idea of group mentoring (also called peer mentoring) is to receive advice from others who are in a similar situation and who therefore have similar questions and issues. In this way, the mentees can learn from the experiences of a group of peers, which offers a big advantage: the coachee receives a lot of different answers and can choose the one that convinces her the most instead of being offered only one, potentially inadequate view on her problem. This is not only helpful for the coachee but also for the others! Everybody in the group gains insights and good ideas.
