"Peer Group Counseling" with Maja Schellhorn

Maja Schellhorn presents her 6-step method to the mentees

22 January, 2016

The kite-mentoring program always makes an effort to involve its mentees. When choosing workshop-topics, we are always respecting the wishes from our participants, for example.
Therefore, we appreciate any initiative that is taken by our mentees!
Last time, something new developed in the kite-mentoring program.
Some of the mentees started meeting regularly as a 'Stammtisch' to train the methods they learned in former kite-events, to exchange and to seek advice.
To support them, the kite-mentoring program organized the today's event titled "Peer Group Counseling".
In the half-day workshop, Maja Schellhorn (known from previous kite-events) taught the mentees a technique through which the participants can coach each other.
The idea of group mentoring (also called peer mentoring) is to receive advice from others who are in a similar situation and who therefore have similar questions and issues.
In this way, the mentees can learn from the experiences of a group of peers, which offers a big advantage: the coachee receives a lot of different answers and can choose the one that convinces her the most instead of being offered only one, potentially inadequate view on her problem.
This is not only helpful for the coachee but also for the others! Everybody in the group gains insights and good ideas.
Maja Schellhorn, who supported and guided this event, imparted a 6-step method which is both: easy and effective and which allows the mentees to coach themselves successfully.
